DASTARDLY DEEDS AT DOOMSDAY BEACH.
A relaxing vacation turns deadly when Gemini discovers a body on the beach.

Now for a few questions and answers…

Can you give us some insight into what makes you main character tick?
Gemini has always given more than she’s received. In her many years working at the hardware store, she spent long days working with her husband and long nights giving Sophia all of her remaining energy. When she went to work at the law firm, her talents were undervalued and she was sidelined because of her age. Now, she’s trying to enjoy her golden years and is pleased to be valued for what she can offer to any investigation.

Share something your readers wouldn’t know about you.
I taught piano lessons for sixteen years. I experienced terrible performance anxiety, in part due to horrible childhood experiences. For that reason, I offered to sit beside my students on the stage during recitals to alleviate their anxiety.

Is anything in your book based on real-life experiences or purely all imagination?
I’ve known many Sophias in my life: entitled and never satisfied. It’s not necessarily all bad. Sometimes they are loving people who just need to feel heard.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
It all depends on what I’m writing. For “Welcome to Piney Falls,” I spent several months learning about the canning industry in Astoria, Oregon. Many times, I take advantage of the encyclopedic knowledge of those around me. Everyone has a lifetime of learning about at least one topic. A phone call or email is usually enough to ascertain what I need to learn from them. Sometimes I’m doing a “fly by the seat of my pants” story, which involves learning as I go.
