Where/when is your book set?
It is set in a fictional small town (Moreley) near Lake Erie in Ohio. December 1921. When I researched the time period, I found towns getting into the holiday spirit more and more. Since Moreley is a resort town, the Christmas setting seemed perfect.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
The female amateur sleuth is looking forward to Christmas for the first time since the Great War. When she returned from serving in the US Army Signal Corps as an operator (1919), Bella discovered both her family resort and hometown struggling to survive. Two years later, both are flourishing. On a personal level, she is finally stepping out with Jax Hastings, whom she has known since childhood. The book ends with them becoming betrothed. (Their relationship has been simmering far in the back of the mysteries, and a Christmas engagement seemed perfect.)
Moreley is once again decked out for the holidays, and many visitors are expected. The town has special festivities, as does the resort. Bella expects to enjoy them with Jax for the first time. This theme is woven into the book in places.
