Hi, I’m Milo. Cat Extraordinaire to the Fairbanks Sisters. I look out for each of the sisters and help guide the use of their special connection to nature. Take Holly; she senses changes in the air before it happens, but even she’s not ready for the coming changes.

Fraud, Murder and the return of her Ex. It’s a lot to deal with, especially when she would rather enjoy the Christmas preparations going on in town. But friendship, both old and new, push her to become involved and motivated to solve the murder an old friend is being framed for.

Where/when is your book set?
Think Tropics. A small southern town on the coast of Florida where you know your neighbors and look out for each other. But that also means everyone knows your business!

Who is your main character?
Milo shares the limelight with Holly Fairbanks. She is one of four sisters, each with abilities to read the natural elements around them. Holly easily feels the change in the air before the actual change happens.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
I grew up in a small town where you looked after your neighbors; when you finished shoveling your sidewalks, you walked next door and did the walks for your elder neighbor. I wanted to bring that sense of community to the story, especially after we have been so isolated over that last few years. Christmas brings out the best in people, including the ability to forgive, as Holly discovers.

It’s December 1986 and where does everyone go to finish up their Christmas shopping? The mall. To make things even more crowded and complicated, the big Show Your Face modeling competition is in town, bringing with it dozens of aspiring beauties and even a few celebrities. When one of the beautiful people turns up dead in a shop window, Tiffany Soan, officer Spencer, a punk kid named Zero, and a large cast of colorful characters must hunt down the killer and wrap up the mystery before another mall goer gets more than they bargained for.

Where/when is your book set?
Bag Your Face is set in 1986 in the fictional seaside town of Wahoo Beach, Florida.

Who is your main character?
Tiffany Sloan is the 30-something owner of the Putts & Stuff arcade and mini-golf complex on the Wahoo Beach boardwalk. While she really wants to repair the old Skee-ball machines, jam out to Bananarama on her boombox, catch some waves, and play some softball with her rec team, The Pac-Maniacs, there always seems to be something — or someone — getting in the way.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
This story takes place mostly at the shopping mall just outside of town, where residents are finishing up their Christmas shopping at Waldenbooks, Sam Goody, KB Toy & Hobby, and Gadzooks! stores. Even though shopping malls can be frustratingly crowded places during the holidays, I still love to go see the decorations, twinkle lights, festive trees, and Christmas displays everywhere, and hear the carols playing in each store. Even now, it reminds me vividly of Christmas shopping in the 1980s, something I’ve tried to recreate in Bag Your Face (along with a little mall-based murder, of course).

A Dash of Deceit by Carmen Radtke

Where/when is your book set?
Welcome to Badger’s End, a (fictional) small town in England, complete with cobble-stoned square, a picturesque pub called Green Dragon, where present and past comfortably run shoulders in this contemporary cozy mystery.

Who is your main character?
American Eve Holdsworth is a new resident, but after years of searching for her quintessential British dream, inspired by her late, London-born mother, she’s found her perfect place – even if it comes with a villain or two.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
This is Eve’s first Christmas,Christmas, where she feels she might find that magical setting with mistletoe, mulled wine, and meaning. It’s something I always thought to create in my own life. I’ve binged shows about a homemade Christmas, swooned over decorations, and every year I watch classic movies like It’s a Wonderful World and Christmas in Connecticut (and, yes, Die Hard).

Six cosy Christmas mysteries, some with a historical setting, something for everyone! Most are American but two are British.

The Children’s Party by Lexie Conyngham

Where/when is your book set?

My story is set in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1828, in a lawyer’s household and around a jeweller’s.

Who is your main character?

Hippolyta is eighteen, a lawyer’s daughter, and too tall and skinny to be fashionable. She’s sure she’ll never marry and be stuck forever helping her mother with her charitable works. She loves animals and is very nosy!

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?

Christmas is important to the story because it’s a time for generosity and charity, and my main character is involved in a party for impoverished children. I love the smells of Christmas, pine needles and cinnamon and oranges, and if I can get some snow, all the better!

Aly just completed the biggest spell she’s ever attempted, with a little help. But the magic came with an unexpected side effect, and now she’s got to figure out what happened to the dead man in the upstairs bath before her parents arrive for the holidays.

Where/when is your book set?

My book is set in the fictional town of Star’s Ridge, New York, a wealthy suburb of New York City. Star’s Ridge is about 3 hours south of Shady Grove, the (also fictional) town where the rest of this series takes place.

Who is your main character?

Aly Reynolds has a life-long love of science. She went to school to study biology. She believes in the scientific method. She recites the periodic table when she’s nervous or stressed. And then she finds out that she’s psychic.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?

Aly’s sister-in-law died shortly before the holidays two years ago. Now she’s back, and the whole family is looking forward to celebrating. Unfortunately, the discovery of a dead body puts Aly and her family in danger of going to jail. Aly needs to find the truth or, instead of a family reunion full of cheer, she and her family may find themselves having a scary little Christmas.

Murder Takes the Train by Katherine H. Brown

The quaint, mountain town of Riverbend Junction has only one train in and one train out for transportation. The town hasn’t been home for two of the three “Belle sisters” since they moved away several years ago, but when they return home for Christmas a murder derails the train and all of their plans for getting back to their regular lives. Can the women put their heads together to track down the killer or will they find themselves railroaded into a murder charge?

Where / when book is set?
The quaint (some might say backwoods) town of Riverbend Junction, Arkansas,Arkansas, on a plateau high in the mountains, the weekend of Christmas.

Who is your main character?
POV from Zadie Belle , the oldest of three sisters who are all prominent characters, an arborist and researcher who has returned home for the holidays only to find herself stuck in the town she left behind four years ago.

Why is Christmas important to the story or you?
Christmas is important to me because we celebrate the birth of Jesus and show our joy at the Gift we were given in giving gifts to our loved ones and spending time together. Christmas is important in this story as the holiday season is the catalyst that reunites the three sisters after many years apart & now that they are together, they keep landing in heaps of trouble that make them rely on each other more than ever.

Rhonda Hopkins

Family. Yuletide. And, a missing Santa.

Charley is ready for a break from high school with nothing planned except holiday fun with friends and family. But when the town’s Santa goes missing along with his bag of toys her agenda changes.
Charley doesn’t want the town’s children to be disappointed at the annual Christmas Festival, but can she figure out what’s going on before Santa goes missing for good?

Where/when is your book set?
A Witchy Christmas is set in the present day in the fictional town of Whispering Pines amid the Piney Woods of East Texas.

Who is your main character?
Charley Cooper is a senior in high school and writes for the school newspaper. She comes from a long line of witches but her magic didn’t arrive until much later than expected so she’s still learning to control her sometimes wonky powers. She has a close-knit family, great friends, and a best friend who is now her boyfriend. She can’t seem to pass up getting involved in local mysteries. Oh! And she can talk to animals.

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
As a Christian, Christmas is an important event for our family as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Some of my best memories are of Christmases with my family. In A Witchy Christmas the holiday infuses excitement into the small-town festival and it’s citizens. And allows some heart-warming times between Charley’s quirky family and friends. Of course, when the local Santa goes missing, it causes major chaos in the town’s plans and their efforts to create a magical holiday for the children.

Presley Thurman has returned to Hunter’s Hollow just in time for her Christmas Eve wedding. But when Winston Rose is murdered in the parking lot of Sue Thurman’s flower shop, the police peg Sue as their number one suspect.

Presley knows her mom is innocent but can she convince the police of that?

Can Presley find the real culprit AND get married to Cooper? This just might take a Christmas miracle.

Where/when is your book set?
A small town in Illinois called Hunter’s Hollow.

Who is your main character?
Presley Thurman

Why is Christmas so important to the story or you?
It’s my favorite holiday and the favorite holiday of Presley. The decorations, the food, and the family togetherness is so wonderful this time of year. Also, in this story, she marries her longtime boyfriend.
